Social Media and Politics

It was December when I saw Miriam and Bongbong's pages, I read it...and research their platforms. Actually, ever since I am rooting for these two as they have a caliber who are not easily being manipulated by the system. Talking about their stand in Corona's case and BBL. They do not go with the flow, instead they clashed with other senators to fight for what they think is right, they are not afraid to lose any of their allies (if there is).

There was an option on that site asking if I want to become a volunteer so I did sign up. But how? I am a working mom with time is always being consumed by the not so friendly transport situation in the metro (hugot pa more haha). Then there was this option, you can write and share articles. I thought of using Social Media as a medium to educate and share my thoughts. It didn't bother me that people might get irritated with what I have to say because per my previous post, it is my wall and I will have to use it to campaign for whoever I want.

While it is right that social media is now being used by trolls and rude people to post their not so good comments and memes, it is still the right of those legitimate people who only wants change in this country to use this tool. It is the easiest channel for communications and without it our information will only be limited to what we are being told to chew from the mainstream media.

It just saddened me that people's connotation on being vocal on your political stand in Social Media is a nonsense, just a famewhore maybe? This is one indication that some of us just don't really care or they care but not enough to understand the eagerness of some people for change. Our culture has been like this, "bahala na" or "eh ganun talaga eh"...a shadow of our values of being "matiisin"

This what separates us from the strong nations of this world, countries from the west. They are willing to fight for their country and for their idealism. They just don't care on what other people will say but they will say it anyway provided that at the end of the day, they will patch things up and settle for the common good.

They are not "matiisin", they'll improve and shout if they are encountering hardships. But here, based on what I am seeing..I think we really are not yet ready for change. Why? That simple posting of issues related to politics is annoying us then how can we say that this country is ready for revolution? A massive revolution.

Oh well, i'm speaking in behalf of those people who are fighting using this gift of technology. Let us continue to use it not only for viral lifestyle, "kasosyalan" and other much irritating posts. There are audiences that are intelligent enough to understand the picture. We can no longer put the responsibility in providing information into the mainstream media as some of them are no longer practicing responsible journalism at all. It is all up to us to check and research if what we are seeing in our feeds are correct. It won't hurt if you will have an idea on what really is going on in our society.

As for me? Election day is fast approaching and I will continue to write. After May 9, i'll keep silent because I know I have already done my part...to provide alternative truth on the truth that you think you already know. If we still choose the other side then I will also say "bahala na". But before that, i will still campaign for Miriam and Bongbong for 2016, why? Haha read my posts ;p
